Westand, opened in 2017, occupies the site of a former industrial facility in Braunschweig, specifically the Eulert candy factory. The primary configuration is a large, flexible main hall designed to accommodate diverse events. For live performances, the hall typically operates as a flat standing floor, offering unhindered sightlines to the stage from most positions within the main body of the space. While there are no fixed tiered balconies, temporary seating risers can be configured for specific events, altering the audience perspective. With a capacity for up to 2,500 standing attendees, the space is substantial. Acoustically, the hall functions as a large, open environment. Sound fidelity is predominantly shaped by the sophisticated, modern PA systems installed, which are essential for directing and reinforcing audio within the expansive, somewhat resonant volume.
