About The Factory in Deep Ellum: Layout, History & Architecture

Originally a manufacturing facility, the structure now known as The Factory in Deep Ellum was repurposed in the mid-2010s, building upon its previous incarnation as "The Bomb Factory." This large-scale music venue retains much of its industrial heritage, characterized by exposed brickwork, robust concrete flooring, and high, open ceilings typical of its warehouse origins. The hall accommodates approximately 4,300 patrons, primarily configured as a vast standing general admission floor, lending itself to an immersive, high-energy atmosphere.

Above the main floor, a tiered balcony or mezzanine offers elevated sightlines and often includes a mix of seated and standing sections, providing a different perspective on performances. While the scale of the space allows for impressive stage productions, the inherent architectural qualities of a renovated industrial building—hard, reflective surfaces of brick and concrete—mean the acoustics are highly reliant on a sophisticated, powerful house PA system. The design prioritizes direct sound reinforcement; listeners should anticipate a lively and expansive sound profile rather than the subtle reflections of a purpose-built acoustic chamber.

The Live Experience & Current Schedule

Entry to the space typically commences from the main entrance on Canton Street, leading into a spacious foyer equipped with multiple bar stations, designed to manage crowd flow efficiently during peak times. Once inside, patrons can choose the dynamic energy of the main floor's standing pit, offering direct proximity to the stage, or ascend to the balcony for an overview of the performance and the crowd below. Balcony views are generally clear, though specific posts or the curve of the structure might marginally impact certain peripheral sightlines depending on the chosen vantage point. The crowd atmosphere is typically vibrant and engaged, reflecting the diverse range of artists the venue hosts.

With 0 live performances scheduled, upcoming entry prices start from standard pricing. The next confirmed event on the calendar is upcoming live performances on soon.
