The Adrian Flux Waterfront occupies a converted industrial building from the late 19th or early 20th century, formerly part of the St. Mary's Brewery complex, positioned directly on the banks of the River Wensum. Since its reinvention as a live music venue in 1993, the space has retained much of its original utilitarian character, featuring exposed brickwork and concrete elements typical of its industrial heritage. The main auditorium provides a large, flat standing floor, accommodating approximately 700-800 patrons for general admission events, with an elevated stage that offers reasonable sightlines towards the front and centre.
Acoustically, the hall benefits from its high ceilings and robust construction, providing a resonant environment well-suited for amplified contemporary music, particularly rock, indie, and electronic genres. The sound profile relies heavily on a comprehensive PA system to manage the inherent liveliness of the space; it is not designed for the nuanced acoustic precision of a purpose-built concert hall, but rather excels in delivering a powerful and immersive sonic experience. A smaller room, known as The Studio, with a capacity of around 200, offers a more intimate setting for emerging acts and club nights, featuring lower ceilings and direct stage proximity.
