Teatro Municipal Quijano, a prominent performance space in Ciudad Real, opened its doors in 1898. Originally conceived in a Neo-Baroque style typical of late Victorian civic architecture, its ornate façade belies an interior that has undergone significant modernisations. A major refurbishment in the 1970s updated core infrastructure and introduced some functional, though acoustically challenging, concrete elements to the auditorium walls. Further renovations in the early 2000s aimed to soften these aspects and improve audience comfort.

The hall has a stated capacity of 1,200 patrons, distributed across three levels: a raked ground floor stalls section accommodating 700, a first-tier circle with 300 seats, and an upper circle seating 200. The traditional proscenium arch stage provides a clear central view from most seats. However, some seats at the extreme ends of the upper circle, particularly those behind the structural pillars introduced during the 1970s remodel, offer partially obstructed sightlines.

Acoustically, the auditorium is primarily designed for theatrical productions and unamplified orchestral performances. While speech clarity is generally good, amplified music can sometimes present challenges due to the varied surface materials and the hall's inherent reverb profile. Sound engineers often need to carefully calibrate the house PA system to achieve optimal balance and avoid excessive reverberation, particularly during high-energy musical events.

Conversely, the tiered balcony sections offer a more elevated perspective, which can feel somewhat detached from the stage for some, especially in the upper circle.
