About Starlite Auditorio: Layout, History & Architecture
Starlite Auditorio, established in 2012, is an open-air performance space carved directly into the Cantera de Nagüeles quarry within the Sierra Blanca mountains, overlooking Marbella. This unique geological setting dictates its architectural form: a natural amphitheater where the ancient rock walls serve as the venue's defining structure. The main auditorium accommodates approximately 3,500 patrons, configured primarily with tiered seating and VIP table zones closer to the stage. While the amphitheater design ensures generally clear sightlines for most seated positions, the experience varies from the premium stage-front tables to the higher, more distant tiers.
The raw concrete stage and surrounding facilities are integrated into the quarry's limestone. Acoustically, the natural rock contours provide some beneficial reflections, but as an open-air venue, the sound profile is heavily dependent on the installed PA system. Direct sound from the stage is often augmented to overcome environmental factors and ensure clarity across the expansive, uncovered seating areas. The space operates seasonally, making its design inherently transient, built to accommodate large-scale productions within a natural, unroofed environment.
