About Secret Location in London: Layout, History & Architecture
The structure, originally a Victorian industrial facility dating back to the late 1880s, underwent significant conversion in the early 2000s to become Secret Location in London. Its exterior retains the robust red-brick masonry characteristic of its era, while the interior was largely reconfigured with a utilitarian aesthetic. Exposed steel girders, polished concrete floors, and raw timber accents define the performance areas, creating a stark, functional modernism within a historic shell.
The main hall accommodates approximately 1,800 standing patrons. An upper-level, horseshoe-shaped balcony offers an additional 350 fixed seats, providing an elevated, more composed viewing experience. On the ground floor, sightlines can become challenging towards the rear and sides during sold-out events, particularly for those shorter in stature. The balcony, while providing clearer views of the stage, includes a few support pillars near the far sides that can partially obstruct peripheral vision for some seats.
Acoustically, the building presents the inherent challenges of a large, high-ceilinged industrial space. While extensive acoustic panelling has been integrated during the conversion, the sheer volume and hard surfaces can still lead to a noticeable degree of natural reverberation, particularly in the lower frequency ranges. The sound reinforcement system is therefore crucial and requires precise calibration for each performance to mitigate unwanted echo and ensure clarity. Balcony areas tend to offer a slightly drier, more direct sound perception due to the overhead enclosure.
The Live Experience & Current Schedule
Entry to Secret Location in London is typically via a single main doorway on Tanner Street. Pre-show queues, especially for popular acts, form outside and can extend along the pavement, exposed to the elements. Once inside, a spacious, minimalist foyer provides access to ground-floor bars located on either side of the main hall, designed for quick service to alleviate congestion. The atmosphere within the standing pit can become highly dense, particularly close to the stage, reflecting the raw energy of live performances in a utilitarian setting. Patrons seeking a less physically immersive experience often gravitate towards the rear of the standing floor or opt for the tiered seating on the upper balcony, where the elevated perspective allows for a broader appreciation of the stage production and a more relaxed viewing environment.
With 0 live performances scheduled, upcoming entry prices start from standard pricing. The next confirmed event on the calendar is upcoming live performances on soon.
