The Scarborough Spa Grand Hall, an integral part of the broader Scarborough Spa complex, was largely rebuilt following a fire in 1993, though its origins within the Victorian pleasure complex date back to the 1870s. The current auditorium, completed in 1996, maintains a classical, ornate aesthetic in its finishes, contrasting with the more functional and robust internal structure. Designed primarily as a proscenium arch theatre, the hall offers a comprehensive tiered seating arrangement for approximately 1,850 patrons, comprising a stalls level and multiple balconies.
Sightlines throughout the space are generally clear, benefiting from the tiered design, with minimal structural obstructions. The acoustic profile is engineered to accommodate a diverse program, from orchestral concerts and theatrical productions to amplified contemporary music.
