About Palacio de los Córdova: Layout, History & Architecture

Palacio de los Córdova, originally constructed in 1898 as the Granada Mercantile Exchange, underwent an extensive refurbishment and reopening in 2018. The building retains its impressive Neoclassical stone facade, a striking presence on Exchange Square, which now contrasts with a thoroughly modernised interior designed for live performance. The main Auditorium offers a flat standing capacity of 1,800 on the ground floor, supplemented by an additional 400 seated across two tiered balconies.

The architectural legacy of the former exchange hall dictates a high-ceilinged, open internal volume. While this provides an expansive aesthetic, the inherent live acoustics of the space—characterised by original ornate plasterwork—require substantial sound reinforcement for contemporary amplified music. The installed PA system capably delivers a clear sound profile, though some natural reverberation can still be discerned, particularly at the rear of the standing floor during moments of lower amplification. Sightlines from the primary standing area are generally unimpeded due to a well-considered stage height. However, patrons seated at the extremities of the lower balcony may experience minor obstructions from the support columns for the upper tier.

The Live Experience & Current Schedule

Ingress for most events occurs through the grand main entrance situated centrally on Exchange Square, leading directly into a spacious ground-floor foyer. Two generously sized bars are located within this main foyer, with additional satellite points accessible on the first balcony level, designed to minimise queuing. The standing pit cultivates an immediate, energetic atmosphere for sold-out shows, offering direct stage proximity. In contrast, the seated balconies provide a comfortable, elevated perspective on proceedings. With 0 live performances scheduled, upcoming entry prices start from standard pricing. The next confirmed event on the calendar is upcoming live performances on soon.
