About London Pub: Layout, History & Architecture
Originally constructed in 1898 as part of Hermosillo's industrial boom, London Pub occupies a robust late-Victorian brick structure on Foundry Street. Its facade retains the original large arched windows and sturdy masonry characteristic of the era's factory buildings. The building was extensively refurbished and reopened as a public house and live music venue in 2005. The main pub area, accessible directly from the street, offers a casual setting with a capacity of approximately 100 patrons.
The dedicated performance space, known as 'The Vault', is situated in what was formerly a large storage area within the building's lower level. Accessed via a short flight of steps from the main bar, this rectangular hall features a flat concrete floor, providing a standing capacity of 300. The stage, elevated approximately 0.75 metres, is positioned at the far end of the room. Sightlines across the space are generally clear due to the absence of support pillars, though individual views may be impacted by crowd density, particularly for those further from the stage. The exposed brickwork and high ceilings of The Vault contribute to a naturally resonant acoustic profile. While the venue is equipped with a professional, purpose-built PA system, the inherent reflectivity of the space means that sound engineers must carefully manage mix levels to prevent excessive reverberation and maintain clarity, particularly for genres with rapid transients or complex layering.

Entry to London Pub is directly from Foundry Street, leading into the main bar area where tickets are checked for live events. Access to The Vault for performances involves a brief internal walk and descent of a few steps. A dedicated bar operates within The Vault during events, supplementing the main pub bar and reducing congestion. The flat-floor configuration of the performance space fosters a dense, immediate crowd atmosphere, allowing for direct engagement with performers on stage.
