Completed in 2003, Estadio Shakira presents a robust example of late Neo-Brutalist architecture, characterised by vast expanses of exposed reinforced concrete, structural steel elements, and a multi-story glass atrium forming its primary western façade. Designed to accommodate major sporting events and large-scale concerts, the auditorium boasts a versatile capacity of up to 18,500 for full-arena configurations, reducing to 6,000 in a more intimate theatre mode achieved through retractable seating and stage adjustments. The main floor typically serves as a general admission standing pit, flanked by three tiered levels of fixed seating that encircle the performance space.

Sightlines from the lower and mid-tier seating blocks are generally unobstructed, offering clear views of the stage. However, patrons in the uppermost tiers, particularly those situated further back and to the sides, will experience a considerably more distant perspective of the performers. Acknowledging the inherent acoustic challenges of such a large, open concrete volume, the hall is designed with significant natural reverberation. This necessitates the deployment of sophisticated, high-power line array sound systems to achieve clarity and impact. While professional touring sound engineers work diligently to sculpt the audio profile, the space's scale means that lower frequencies can occasionally exhibit a noticeable boom without precise tuning, and overall sound dispersal relies entirely on external reinforcement.

Access to the venue is primarily via the main west-facing entrance, with queues typically forming along the plaza fronting Avenida de la Técnica. Inside, the multi-level foyers are vast and functional, constructed predominantly from concrete and steel, offering numerous concession stands and bars. Seating here is minimal, reflecting the arena's design for high-volume ingress and egress. The standing pit provides the most immediate and visceral experience, fostering a dense, energetic crowd atmosphere. Those opting for seated tickets in the tiered balconies benefit from elevated views, albeit with varying degrees of distance from the stage.
