About Camelot: Layout, History & Architecture
Camelot, located at Calle del Azabache, 12 in Salamanca's west-central district, occupies a meticulously renovated industrial building originally constructed in 1910 as a textile mill. Transformed into a live music venue in 2005, the hall retains much of its early 20th-century character, featuring exposed brickwork, robust steel girders, and soaring ceilings. The main auditorium is a large, adaptable space with a flat standing floor, accommodating up to 1,200 patrons. A single, shallow mezzanine balcony runs along the north wall, offering a limited number of unreserved seats and elevated sightlines over the main floor.
The architectural conversion prioritised structural integrity and a raw aesthetic, leaving much of the original building's fabric visible. While the sightlines from the main standing pit are generally unobstructed towards the wide stage, patrons on the far ends of the mezzanine may find their views partially angled. Acoustically, the high ceilings and hard surfaces of the former mill can create a lively, somewhat reverberant environment.
