Black Box Tijuana occupies a converted industrial warehouse originally constructed in 1983 as a municipal depot, reimagined for live performance in 2019. The architectural style leans into a raw, utilitarian modernism, characterised by its exposed concrete structure and robust, unadorned finishes. With a capacity for 1,000 standing patrons and an additional 150 across a fixed, shallow mezzanine level, the space prioritises adaptability over ornate detailing.

The main performance area is a large, flat-floor hall, offering direct proximity to the stage. Sightlines from the rear of this standing floor can be partially obscured by crowd density, particularly for those of shorter stature, necessitating strategic positioning for an unobstructed view. The elevated mezzanine, accessible via a single staircase, provides clear, though more distant, sightlines over the main floor, furnished with fixed, minimalist seating. The acoustic profile of the hall, with its unadorned concrete walls and high ceilings, is inherently live; sound reinforcement is therefore critical, and the venue's installed PA system works diligently to manage reflections and deliver clarity across the often reverberant environment.
