Bannermans occupies a converted basement space beneath a historic building on Niddry Street in Edinburgh's Old Town. This subterranean configuration dictates much of its architectural and acoustic character. With a capacity typically ranging from 200 to 250 patrons, the auditorium operates as a single, flat standing floor, placing all attendees in direct proximity to the elevated stage. The architectural style is functional for a live music venue, making extensive use of the existing stone and brickwork of the historic structure, which contributes to an intimate, enclosed atmosphere.
Sightlines are generally direct given the modest dimensions of the room, though a full crowd can present minor obstructions from the very rear, particularly for shorter individuals.
