About Auditorio Riojaforum: Layout, History & Architecture
Inaugurated in 2004 and designed by architect José Manuel González-Valcárcel, Auditorio Riojaforum is Logroño’s primary convention and exhibition centre. The building presents a modernist aesthetic, characterized by a striking interplay of concrete, glass, and local stone, arranged in geometric volumes that project a contemporary, functional presence on the cityscape. Its design prioritizes versatility, accommodating a broad spectrum of events from conferences to live music performances.
The main auditorium, designed for acoustical clarity in both spoken word and amplified music, features tiered seating across a single rake, providing sightlines that are generally clear of obstruction for its 1227 patrons. While built with an emphasis on natural sound projection, the hall's large volume and the materials inherent in its modernist construction mean that for contemporary musical acts, sound reinforcement via the installed PA system is crucial for achieving optimal clarity and impact.
