About Auditorio El Batel: Layout, History & Architecture

Constructed in 2011 and designed by the acclaimed Spanish architecture firm SelgasCano, Auditorio El Batel presents a distinctive contemporary and biomorphic aesthetic, characterised by its extensive use of glass, steel, and vibrant colour accents. The building's exterior, particularly visible from the waterfront, features a striking interplay of transparent and opaque surfaces, creating an impression of lightness and modernity.

The primary performance space, Sala A, is a purpose-built tiered auditorium with a capacity of approximately 1,400 to 1,450 seats. Designed primarily for concerts, theatre, and conferences, the seating rake ensures generally unobstructed sightlines throughout the hall, though the specific stage setup for amplified events can influence views from extreme side sections. Acoustically, the design prioritises clarity and even sound distribution, employing carefully selected materials and geometry to manage reverberation. For amplified performances, the hall relies significantly on modern PA systems to deliver a robust sound profile, as is common in contemporary large-scale venues. A smaller, more intimate Sala B accommodates around 300-400 seated patrons, serving a similar range of programming.

The Live Experience & Current Schedule

Entry to the space is typically through its expansive glass facade, which directly faces the Muelle Alfonso XII and the harbour. Patrons enter into a bright, multi-level foyer equipped with several bars and ample circulation space, allowing for comfortable mingling before performances and during intermissions. Within Sala A, the experience is predominantly seated, offering clear views of the stage from most positions in the tiered auditorium. The atmosphere adapts considerably to the event, ranging from the focused quiet of a classical concert to the lively engagement of a theatrical production. With 2 live performances scheduled, upcoming entry prices start from £354.15. The next confirmed event on the calendar is Fito & Fitipaldis on 15th January 2027.
