Opened in 2006 and designed by Estudi PSP Arquitectura, the Auditorio de Girona is a purpose-built contemporary concert hall positioned adjacent to Parc de la Devesa. Its architecture features clean lines and a functional aesthetic, reflecting a modernist approach without overt ornamentation. The main performance space, Sala Montsalvatge, is a steeply raked auditorium with a capacity of approximately 1,200 fixed seats, distributed across stalls and a single, shallow balcony. This configuration prioritizes excellent sightlines from almost every position, with no structural pillars obstructing the stage.

Acoustically, the hall was engineered to provide clarity and natural reverberation, making it particularly well-suited for orchestral and chamber music performances. While highly effective for acoustic acts, the design's inherent reflectivity means amplified contemporary music often relies on a well-tuned PA system to achieve optimal balance and avoid excessive boom, rather than the space contributing a naturally robust low end. A smaller, more intimate Sala de Cambra provides a flexible setting for around 300 guests, typically for recitals, smaller ensembles, or spoken word events.
