While there isn't a direct train line to the Nürburgring itself, Koblenz is a significant hub served by multiple Deutsche Bahn (DB) lines, including high-speed ICE services connecting it to major UK cities such as London (via Eurostar to Brussels or Paris, then onward to Koblenz), Manchester, and Birmingham. Trains from London to Koblenz typically involve at least one change and can take upwards of 7-8 hours. Services to Koblenz are frequent throughout the day from other German cities like Frankfurt and Cologne. Koblenz Hauptbahnhof offers comprehensive facilities, including a ticket office, information desks, waiting areas, and accessibility services. From Koblenz, onward travel to the Nürburgring typically involves a combination of regional trains and local bus services.
By bus
For bus travel to the Nürburgring, the most practical approach involves utilizing local bus services that connect with regional train stations. The nearest significant transport hub is Koblenz Hauptbahnhof. From Koblenz, local bus routes operated by VRS (Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Mosel) serve the Nürburgring area. Specifically, bus route 817 is a key service that can take you towards the Nürburgring from towns like Adenau, which is closer to the circuit. Other regional buses may connect from nearby towns such as Mayen or Daun. Journey times from Koblenz city centre by bus can vary significantly depending on the route and connections but expect travel times of at least 1 to 1.5 hours. It’s advisable to check the current VRS timetable for the most up-to-date information, as routes and frequencies can change. Night bus options are limited in this rural region, so planning return journeys is essential.
